Angélica Lozano Correa
Famous BisAngélica Lozano Correa is a Colombian lawyer, politician, and human rights activist.
She began her political career as a legal advisor for an NGO and two independent senators, co-founding the left-wing political party, Independent Democratic Pole. She made history in 2014 by becoming Colombia’s first openly bisexual and LGBT national legislator.
Lozano has been a vocal advocate of same-sex partnerships. Despite Colombia’s legalization of same-sex partnerships in 2011, Lozano believes that more needs to be done to ensure that same-sex partners are granted equal rights and protections under the law.
Lozano faced criticism over a romantic relationship with fellow female Senator Claudia López, leading to a lawsuit filed by Senator Victor Velásquez, an Evangelical pastor, who argued that Article 179 of Colombia’s Constitution prohibited individuals in a relationship from serving in Congress simultaneously. The charges were dropped, as same-sex marriage and civil unions were not legal in Colombia at that time and thus fell outside the purview of that rule. In December 2019, Lozano and López got married after López was elected as the mayor of Bogotá.
Soy bisexual. Si me caso con @ClaudiaLopez no puedo adoptar, si me caso con Juan, sí ¿Ser buena madre depende de otros y no de mí?
