Georgina Hobart

Georgina Hobart, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, is one of the supporting characters in the Netflix YA satirical dramedy, The Politician. 

Georgina is the mother of main character Payton, adopting him when he was a baby, much to the chagrin of her wealthy husband. Georgina is a loving and doting mother, doing everything within her power to protect Payton from harm, be that from his family or from troubles during his high school presidential campaign.

Georgina is in a loveless marriage with her husband and resents her spoiled twins, adoring Payton to the point of being a martyr to save him from any trouble. 

While she has had other male lovers in her past, she awakens when she starts an affair with her female riding instructor (played by Martina Navratilova), attempting to leave her husband to seek happiness with her. While she never labels her sexual orientation, she is open about her love when she feels it. At one point when she is packing to run away with her instructor, the colors of the clothing in her suitcase line up to form the color pattern of the bi pride flag. 

While still biting and observant, Georgina is the sunniest and most positive character in a series focusing on the consequences of ruthless ambition.
